The last two days have seen two sets of production photos being released by Warner Bros. for their upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. The photos show Alicia Vikander as the iconic Lara Croft character and give us the smallest glimpse at how the South African shoot is going.
With our first look at how the reboot is shaping up, we see there are some distinct references to 2013 Tomb Raider game reboot. The side-by-side comparison above shows a detailed recreation down to the the ice ax and bandages on the right bicep and left hand. It stands to reason then, that the Tomb Raider film reboot is likely to follow the same plot outline as the game.
The game sees Lara venturing into Siberia searching for the mythical city of Kitezh, a city many refer to as Russia’s Atlantis. Along the way, she must avoid a group of paramilitary fanatics who are trying to beat her to the city and the immortality the city promises. Although it is a good bet that the film will follow some version of that plot, with only three set photos to go on, it is still too early to be sure.
The Tomb Raider reboot has been scheduled for release in March of next year in U.S. theaters.
