Jack Sparrow Gets a New Ship in Pirates of the Caribbean 5

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is set to give Jack a new ship and a new purpose.

A few days ago, Disney released their list of movies to be released in 2017. Of course, fan favorites such as Thor: Ragnarok and Star Wars Episode VIII have made an appearance, yet another eagerly anticipated title is Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The new swashbuckling adventure will see Johnny Depp return as the ultimate anti-hero and pirate Jack Sparrow to try and complete another quest in Pirates of the Caribbean 5. This time, Sparrow will find himself facing off against Javier Bardem’s ghost pirate Captain Salazer. Having escaped from the Devil’s Triangle, Salazar is intent on pursuing and killing his old rival. Jack’s only chance is to find the Trident of Poseidon, an ancient and powerful artifact which grants the owner complete control of the seas.

Yet Jack’s not going to have an easy time finding it. Behind him will be one of the series’ less impressive ships, the Dying Gull. Being based on a merchant ship which sailed in Caribbean during the 1750s, the single-mast vessel isn’t anywhere as impressive as the Black Pearl and really lets us know how down on his luck Jack is.

Bredon Thwaites will appear as Henry, a young sailor looking to reconnect with his father, whilst a young, confident astronomer will be portrayed by Kaya Scodelario. These are who Jack will be looking to team up with in order to take down the film’s villain.

Other stars in the new film will include Geoffrey Rush returning as Captain Hector Barbossa, Orlando Bloom as Captain William “Will” Turner (the new captain of the Flying Dutchman) and Kevin McNally as Joshamee Gibbs, Jack Sparrow’s loyal friend and First Mate.

Speaking to IGN, Bloom is noted as saying that Dead Men Tell No Tales will probably act a somewhat of a soft-reboot, stating “Basically they want to reboot the whole franchise, I think, and do something with me and the relationship with my son.”

The first teaser trailer was released back in October, yet we’re still waiting for the first full trailer to hit screens.

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 looks set to be released May 26, 2017, so keep your eyes peeled for any news before then.
