Warner Bros. have released the first trailer for the much anticipated sequel to Monolith Productions’ Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor, Shadow of War. The release comes after a retailer leak that forced the publisher’s hand in giving us an early look.
The original installment in the franchise bagged no less than 50 industry awards, including the 2015 Game Developers Choice Awards’ Game of the Year. Middle-earth: Shadow of War will, as a result, have big shoes to fill with many expecting nothing less than perfection from the upcoming release.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War will see players take possession of a new Ring of Power to do battle against a re-risen and emboldened Sauron and his Nazgul. The game’s story will, like its predecessor’s feature a completely original narrative based in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings universe but not beholden to the narrative of the original text
By far one of the most beloved elements of the first game was the Nemesis System and, according to the official press release for Shadow of War, we can expect to see a polished and expanded new version of the Nemesis System.
“The Nemesis System is also expanded to create a unique personal world through Nemesis Fortresses, which allows players to utilize different strategies to conquer dynamic strongholds and create personalized worlds with their unique Orc army.”
Middle-earth: Shadow Of War is set to be released on PlayStation, XBox, Steam and Windows as of 10 August 22, 2017 and you can pre-purchase it on Steam now for $59.99.
