Is it possible that a sole 4Chan poster has seen the Star Wars: The Last Jedi teaser trailer and is telling all about it? Well, possibly. Many of the clues released by this budding leaker are in line with several rumours and rumblings that have surfaced following the announcement of the film’s title.
The first official teaser footage for Star Wars 8 is set to be shown publically with the Star Wars Celebration in April. However, Youtube personality Mike Zeroh claims to already have the scoop on the upcoming trailer from sources on the hacker site 4Chan. It should be noted before you read on that this is not the first of Zeroh’s claimed scoops with many turning out to be very wrong. As a result, the following should be taken with a fair helping of scepticism.
The first Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer/teaser will start much the same as the Force Awakens teaser with Finn breathing heavily before popping up on screen. This time around, however, Finn is in a medical bay waking up from an induced coma after his battle with Kylo Ren and not the desolate surface of Jakku after escaping from the The First Order. The scene then cuts to Poe Dameron entering from an automatic door offering an ominous warning, “They’re almost here!” Who they are and where here is, is not alluded to.
The next scene jumps into a seemingly confirmed previous rumour with Poe, Finn and Kelly Maries Tran’s still unnamed character stealing onto a Super Star Destroyer disguised as First Order officers on a sabotage mission. We then, according to the leak, get our first in-the-flesh introduction to an almost 8 ft tall Snoke, a character that will employ practical effects forgoing a CG solution.
With Luke Skywalker largely absent from the trailer, the rumour goes on to reveal that we will hear his voice towards the end of the trailer with a threatening, “Everything will die with us.”
Considering this will be out first look at the Disney and Lucasfilm property to be released in December of 2017, the trailer seems to be full of reveals and intricate information. This large suppository of revelations are what make me particularly sceptical of the details of the rumoured teaser trailer. However, we will just have to wait for the April celebrations to be sure.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to hit theatres on 15 December, 2017.
Edit: Disney and Lucasfilm have not confirmed or denied any of the aforementioned rumours.
