The final trailer for the upcoming DC blockbuster, Wonder Woman has been released by Warner Bros. The trailer gives us a clearer look at Diana’s childhood and family. We also get a look at her mother’s insistence on a relentless trailer regime, a regime that would shape Diana into the greatest warrior the world has ever seen.
The visuals of Themyscira, the island of the Amazonians, are breathtaking as are the fight scenes and general glistening, colorful comic-book-esque treatment that is given to every corner of the screen. If the trailers are anything to go by, Wonder Woman promises to be a visual masterpiece.
In addition to the release of the final Wonder Woman trailer, Gal Gadot’s relentless campaigning on behalf of the upcoming blockbuster via her Instagram account revealed another gem, the film’s latest poster. Kneeling in servitude to the gods, the poster reveals Gadot as a warrior prepared to take up the mantel of her people and defend the world against the forces of evil.
You can expect Wonder Woman (2017) to hit a cinema near you on 2 June, 2017.
The greater DC universe
Wonder Woman will be the final character introduced in a solo movie before the release of Justice League later this year. Solo introductions to Aquaman, the Flash and Cyborg will be released in 2018, 2019, and 2020 respectively. As for Batman, after several delays, 2 directors, and the possibility of Affleck withdrawing from the lead role, a solo movie is looking less and less likely.
This approach to the DC universe colliding in one star-studded blockbuster release is vastly different from that of Marvel’s, which allowed a slow detailed introduced to each and every character before the release of The Avengers. It may be that Warner Bros. feel it is the only way to compete with the huge market share that Marvel currently commands. However, if Suicide Squad is anything to go by, the train smash that is the DC universe is only likely to get worse!
